Brain Injury !!!

Brain injury may be defined as the destruction of brain cells. It may be classified as traumatic brain injury and acquired brain injury. The traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when an outside force injures the brain. The acquired brain injury occurs right from the birth and the cause may be undefined. The traumatic brain injury is also known as intracranial brain injury. This is considered to be the major cause for death and disabilities in the world especially in children and young adults. The causes for traumatic brain injury may be accidents of vehicles, falling from greater heights, during playing games etc. preventive measures should be taken to avoid brain injury in accidents by wearing helmets and seat belts. The signs and symptoms of this injury include head ache, neck pain, feeling tired all time, slowness in thinking, talking etc. In USA the recent data shows that approximately 1.4 million people face this injury every year. Of these 50,000 people die, 235,000 are hospitalized, 1.1 million are treated and transferred from the emergency department. Of children totally there are 2,685 deaths, 37,000 hospitalizations and 435,000 emergency department visits. It is estimated that there are at least 5.3 million people in United States who need assistance in thinking and in doing their daily activities.
